Venues
How does a Venue hire an Artist?
You should fill out your secondary profile. Your secondary profile lists the requirements you need your act to be. Artists looking for Venues will search you and click your hiring button. If they meet your requirements they will contact you and from there you will both work out the details of the show. Then you can post the upcoming show on your schedule page and see what kind of response you get.
Don't forget to also post your intentions of hiring on the forums. This will expand your possibilities.
Will Newjuke charge me for posting my venue on my profile page?
No, not at this time. We don't plan on charging fees for our membership but we left our communications open to allow charging if we feel it neccessary to help sustain our community.
Artists
  How do I get hired?
First you should fill out your secondary profile. The for hire button located below the jukebox will highlight and will let the world know you are interested in playing live. Any Fans or Venues searching for an Artist with your specs will click your for hire button, get your contact info and from their you will both work out the details. After you book a Venue you can list it in your schedule and see how many fans will attend.
You could also post your interests on the forums. Which gives you another means of exposure.
  How do I get paid?
Newjuke sends checks out once a month only if the account accumulates $20.00. If the $20.00 for that month is not met newjuke will keep a tally of your sales until the $20.00 is reached and then send the check to you during the next payment period.
I noticed different charges for different songs. What does this mean?
Newjuke allows artists to charge their own prices at predetermined price points per song. These price points are: .29, .39, .49, .59, .69, .79, .89 and .99 per song.
How much does newjuke charge per song?
Newjuke charges 5% plus 10 cents per song.
What if I want to offer my song for free?
You can offer your song for free. Newjuke does not charge for free songs. That means you should upload your song in high quality. We suggest 192kbps. This will allow your fans to download a crisp version of your song.
What if I want to sell my music?
You need to upload two versions of your song(s). The first version will be a lo fidelity type. We suggest uploading the lofi version at 34kbps or 48kbps. Then upload the for sale version at 192kbps.
What if I don't want to offer my songs as a download?
You should upload a lofi version only and click the N/A (not available) option when uploading your song. Lofi versions no higher than 32kbps or 48kbps. You can listen to different bitrates here:
http://makewavs.com/compression.html#mp3-samples
How do I upload my mp3's?
If your music is in mp3 format at the bitrate you like you should have no problem. If the song is saved on your system you just have to add a song from the albums page in your profile.Click add album songs. Enter the correct info in the fields click browse. Find the mp3 in your system and click it or drag it to the upload field where it says low quality and high quality. Then click submit.
How do I upload music other than mp3's?
If your music is on a CD you should save it on your system first. The music on your system must be converted to mp3.
If you don't have an mp3 converter you can find one here:
http://www.mymusictools.com/download/mp3-bitrate-converter/

You'll be able to find any kind of converter here. Wma to mp3, Wav to mp3, CD to mp3 etc. etc..
Wny does my song play at an unusual speed?
Did you convert your song using the sample rate of 44.100khz? If not you need to delete the song from newjuke and from your system then convert the song again using the 44.100khz setting. Then upload it again.
Why do I need to upload a low quality and high quality version?
If you are selling or not offering a download you need to upload the low quality for your protection. Music that plays on somebody elses computer is capable of being recorded. So all free music should be a low quality to keep the pirates at bay. The high quality will be offered to people who pay and wish to support you.

You might have to create two different titles to the same song or two different file names of the same song in order for you to save a hifi and lofi version on your system.

You can find a bitrate converter here. Bitrate controls the sound quality:
